This low quality blog deserves a low quality photo

I haven't blogged for two weeks, and I know you're just been dying to hear from me. Thanks for your consideration! I always knew there was some sweetness nestled inside that rough exterior.

I havent blogged lately because nothing has been going on. School, work, stress about school, cram information into my brain, neglect responsibilities to hang out with buddies, sleep a couple hours, repeat. Thats basically my life. And, ever now and then, when something cool is going on in my day, I don't have my camera. I went to Idaho Falls last weekend, and I forgot to bring my camera. What kind of photo blogger does that? A bad one.

Enough rambling! Tonight I went to a benefit concert for some presumably unconstitutional trail. A really great musician performed named Alexander Ebert. Ever heard of him? He fronts two bands: Ima Robot and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. Ever heard of them? Google it.

Tonight helped me remember why I love live music so much and why I want to make a career out of it. This show was held in a tiny bar in Salt Lake City, with an audience of about two hundred. Everyone singing along, every dancing, everyone being positive, everyone forgetting about everything that is going on outside the doors, and everyone just loving music.

I really needed this to re-motivate me to get through this audio production degree asap. I snapped this picture on my two year old phone, so I could share this motivation with you.

Valencrimes Day- Day 15

Today is the fourth anniversary of the first self portrait I ever drew. And every year since then, I draw a self portrait on this day.

I usually have plenty of free time on Valentines Day, which is, actually, fine with me. I'm not the type of person to get wrapped up in the significance of a certain date. I'm the kind of person that would rather sit back and let it casually come to me. Maybe this is a bad attitude to have when it comes to romance.

This self portrait is the first self portrait that I've done since March 2009 (Yeah, yeah. I bailed, and didn't do a self portrait last Valentines Day). I've hardly picked up a pencil since I graduated from Utah State, unfortunately; however, I am satisfied with this drawing. I've been looking at a lot of Jason Sho Green sketches lately, and I think it really shows (google "Jason Sho Green"). The text says, "I can decide, while I'm alive, I'll feel alive. And what's next? ... I guess I'll know when I've gotten there." It's from a song called "Brook & Waxing" by a band called WHY?

It's a line I think about a lot, and I feel pretty strongly for it.

So ty-ty bear right now- Day 14

Holy cow, I'm exhausted.

I pull all-nighters more than most people (I'd imagine), but never one like this.

I spent Friday and Saturday in Idaho because it was my big brother's birthday, and that seemed like a good enough reason to make the trip. The problem: I had to work at 5am today, Sunday.

Rather than coming back to Orem yesterday afternoon, like a logical planner would do, I left Idaho Falls at 12:30am (about sixteen hours ago), and made it back just in time to brew a cup of coffee and go to work. I thought two Red Bulls and two cups of coffee would have kept me awake fr my nine hour shift, but no. I'm fairly positive I dosed off while sitting on the ground in the toddler boy section for a minute or two... I say "fairly positive" because todays shift is kind of just a blur at this point.

And of course, now that I've been off work for two hours, I'm still awake, not able to sleep, and toughing out a serious headache.

The funniest part, I think I'll do it again next week!

Okay, I'm going to close my eyes now.

Being an uncle- Day 13

I love being an uncle.

I get to hold these children when they're happy, and make them laugh and smile and bounce. I really didn't think I'd get so into being an uncle, but the thought of being involved with influencing these children's lives makes me so excited! It's even better than teaching swimming lessons!

Titus is my bother's son. He's timid and shy like a Meyers. He's got a cute half-smirk when he smiles, and he flaps his hands around when he wants to be picked up. He's cool!

Grisham is my best friend's son, and even though I'm not biologically his uncle, I have a pretty good feeling that he'll grow up calling me, "Uncle Logan." He's smiley and curious just like a Kimery. He likes to chew on his fingers and prefers to stand when I hold him. He's cool!

These guys make Idaho Falls a lot harder to leave.

Political Compass- Day 12

Despite the fact that my Philosophy class (Ethics & Values) is at 8:30am and I may or may not have failed the first test this week, I do kind of enjoy this class.

Basically, in this class we hear different theories of what makes good things good, and what makes bad things bad. It really makes you think a lot about what you believe and why you believe it, which is why I really like this class. This week, we started talking about polotics! It's been awesome, and had created the second most heated debates in our class (right under God, of course).

Earlier this week, we were told to go online and take the "political compass test," which I knew nothing about, and still don't know a ton about. Above is a picture of my result. I'm told that what it basically means is that I prefer a government that has very limited control over social and economic aspects in a citizens life. And I think that sounds about right.

Today in class after everyone had their results, we went through the test again and took the test as a class by a raise of hands.

Two things I learned: First, I am the most anarchist person in my philosophy class. Second, it makes me feel superior when, in class of 40 students, I am the only person to raise a hand in favor of "strongly disagree" when answering the question, "A person cannot naturally feel homosexual."

Get me out of Utah County, please.

Taco Tuesday Nights- Day 11

Today I took a "political compass" survey and one of the questions was, "Do you think some people are naturally unlucky?" I said, "strongly disagree."

Immediately after that survey, I became naturally unlucky. Curse you, irony!

I had to take a test for my philosophy class today, and I ran into a few problems with that. First of all, I hardly ever attend that class. Come on, 8:30am!? What was I thinking!? The second problem: it was at the UVU testing center. I've never been there, and it think it's a total cop out on my instructors part.

So, I studied all day for this test, and when I was finally feeling confident, I headed over to the testing center. Got there and realized that I didn't bring a #2 pencil, so I went back to my apartment. Got my pencil, went back to the testing center, waited in line for twenty minutes, then realized that it cost money to take a test... Yeah... It cost money! Ridiculous! Thankfully, I had my emergency check on me. I took my test, submitted it confidently, watched my score come up on the screen, and... Let's just say, I bombed it.

Left the Testing Center, came within inches of causing a car accident, went to dinner, received the wrong burger, went back to my apartment and laid in bed to make sure this bad luck streak would come to an end.

Thankfully, tonight is Taco Tuesday Night!

I love how I can rely on hanging out with my friends every Tuesday night, without fail. We went to the taco place, got our tacos, some girls played in the play place (hence the silly picture of Jensen above), and then we went and got ice cream.

We laughed, we yelled, we talked about bananas/condoms, McKall got scared in WalMat, everyone had a good time, and we all took friendship for granted, as many of us do.

It was another great night!

I took the weekend off- Day 10

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I didn't blog all weekend. And really, I had plenty of time, just not any pictures! So, I stole this picture from McKall from Friday night.

Friday night was so awesome. Have you ever had a "pizzookie"? Well, imagine this: pizza-size cookie topped with about a pint of ice cream, plenty of whipped cream, and a more than decent amount of hot fudge and carmel. Essentially, God's cookie.

We made one of those on Friday night, and I didn't think it would be finished, but to my surprise, it was consumed in under fifteen minutes by the eight of us. Amazing!

On a related note, it's really nice to have friends in Utah County. Well... That makes me sound pathetic... I guess I should say, "it's nice to have new friends in Utah County, and growing number of friends." I mean, just look at how many friends I have on Facebook. 500+. That makes me pretty popular, or at least look pretty popular. Yeah... Thats right... You're just a number on my profile.

Moral of the explanation, I have friends with a ten mile radius of my apartment and I love it, and I love them!

Yesterday, Sunday, I went to my grandparent's house and picked up this gem. What a beauty! I love my new bike so much!

This bike used to be my uncle Scott's, and he was generous enough to give it to me for christmas. He thought I was kidding when I said that it's the exact kind of bike I've always wanted, but I am completely serious. A vintage, blue 10-speed! To me, this bike screams, "YOUNG ADULTHOOD!"

When I called my dad to pick up the bike rack from him, I was very happy to hear that he was already at my grandparent's house watching the Super Bowl.

So, a twenty minute drive later, I was watching a "Super Bowl," and cheering for an "underdog," with my dad, mom, grandpa, grandma, and aunt.

Moral of this explanation, I have family within a 30 mile radius of my apartment and I love it, and I love them.

... And I love that new bike, and my uncle Scott for giving it me!

Back to the days, before this was a job, before I got paid- Day 9

Today I spent a good hour or so taking some really great pictures.

Unfortunately, it wasn't in "real life", it was in "Pokemon World"... Or whatever they call it. I don't really know, or care to know, really.

Pokemon Snap was probably my favorite video game growing up... In fact, it was one of four or five video games that I really enjoyed playing when I was a kid. Of course, I, Logan Meyers, would love a game where the only point of the game is to take pictures of make-believe creatures, and hope that they are in the center of the frame. No guns, no magic, no flying, just a camera. Typical Logan.

Maybe video games are constructive. Maybe Pokemon Snap laid down the proper foundation for me to become the semi-professional photographer that I am today... Or maybe I'm just not as much of a badass as I let people believe.

Nah!

Tat-toosday... Well... Wednesday- Day 8

There is a rumor going around Old Navy that I have a tattoo on the inside of my mouth.

The other day my boss came up to me and pulled his bottom lip down. I was so confused! So naturally, I pulled my bottom lip down also, and then I realized, "oh yeah, I have a tattoo there." It was pretty funny.

Everyone thinks I'm the coolest guy because of it. I'm such a rebel!

The same day everyone was finding out that I have a tattoo on the inside of my lip, we got this beach bag in shipment. I have a very similar anchor tattooed on my leg.

I always forget that I have tattoos. Even the one that is on my leg that I see everyday in the shower. I never really think about it.

I'm a true badass. End of story!

I always did hate the number eleven- Day 7

I walk to school every morning. It's fortunate and unfortunate. It's about a mile, so it gives me some good cardio exercise, and I don't have to deal with public transportation, which I like.

However, this morning when I woke up, bright n' early, for my 8:30am class it was 11 degrees fahrenheit with an 11 mph wind chill.

I havent been to my 8:30 class in over a week, so I decided it was necessary to go.

It was a really terrible walk.

After school and work today I went to Kaysville to hang out with my mother, grandmother, and female cousin. it was a bit of a girls night... So I man'd it up and ordered my first stake either. But it was obsoleet because all the women ordered stake also.

Oh well, I was just happy to be in the right company.

Besides, I was the only one to finish the stake.

On my way back to Orem, my friend, Nina, called me and said that the gang is going out to ice cream, so I jumped at that opportunity.

I didn't get any ice cream, but I shared with McKall, and we dug for cheesecake treasure in her ice cream... There where only two pieces! SHE GOT JIPPED!

It was a good day.

Mona Lisas by LeAnn McIsaac- Day 6

This weekend I decided to do a little project to pass the time.

My very good friend, sister-in-law-sister, and personal photographer is also a very good musician. She sings beautiful songs and accompanies them with a ukulele. Last week she participated in an Open Mic even in Portland, Oregon (where she lives) and the establishment that put on this event recorded the entire night.

This recording was messy and there was a low frequency buzz through the entire recording, so I decided that I would clean up this audio so that everyone could enjoy it. It took a bit of time, but now I'm done with it, and if I do say so myself, it sounds like a good recording! And of course, I want to share it with you.

Sunday Sagaciousness- Day 5

I decided that I want to do something special for this blog on Sundays... I mean I do live in what the mormons call "Zion", and Sunday is the "Sabbath". So doing something special on Sunday only makes sense.

(Yeah, I just went to a thesaurus and found the most ridiculous "S" word I could find to get my point across)

So, on Sundays, I'm going to give a bit of insight on my inner most thoughts and feelings to allow you guys to be sagacious about my life. And, I hope, you'll return that favor by making discussion in the comments, and allowing me to be sagacious about your lives. Sound good? I think so. I think I'm going to look forward to Sunday, if this works out right.

The basic premise of PostSecret is this: people anonymously send their secrets (written on postcards) to a blog owner, and this blog owner posts them online.

I've been visiting PostSecret for over two years now, and I've found that these secrets can be very relatable. During these years, I've saved my favorite on my harddrive, and only allowed three or four people to look through these.

On Sunday (sagaciousness), I'll post one of these postcards and explain (vaguely or in detail) what the statement means to me. Keep in mind, I've experienced a lot during the past two years, and these cards document some of my emotions at that period in time. I may or may not feel the same today.

I love this one. Not only for the message, but also for the great photo.

I've had people in my life that help make me feel comfortable in my own skin. People that encourage me to be myself, and motivate me to continue on the journey of accepting every aspect of myself.

I'm very thankful that I don't have a monotonous desire to harmonize with the stereotypical idea of "acceptable." And I'm even more thankful that I have great friends (and family) that reinforce that desire.

I hope that you have someone in your life that helps you feel like you don't have to conform to the "social norm." You can be yourself, whoever that may be.

Furthermore, I would like to offer myself to be that person that helps you feel comfortable with yourself. Alway know that you don't need to conform when you're around me.

Another Travelin' Blog- Day 4

Today I got some really great pizza with some really great friends at a really great new development in Provo. The best part about this development (which is basically an outdoor shopping mall) is that they recently got a "Zoltar" fortune teller. You know, like a large machine that tells your future, like in BIG, staring Tom Hanks. It's really awesome, and it only cost fifty cents.

Today my fortune was about traveling, and even though I realize that fortunes are written in a way that allows its reader to personify it, I really did enjoy this fortune.
If you claim to know me on any sort of level, you can also explain to anyone why I don't belong in Provo, Utah of all places, and this is something I think about often. If if wasn't for school, I'd feel like my time here is a complete waste. But because of my lack of university options, I'll tolerate this area for now.
"You change your sky, not your mind, when you cross the sea or land." To me, this means, no matter where I live, Provo or Portland, I can thrive as an individual. It's comforting, in a way.

Friday is a day that people typically look forward to.
I really like Fridays because I don't have school, and I usually don't have work either. Fridays are really great! And today was no exception,
I started off the day with absolutely nothing to do. Luckily, I was given some audio tracks to edit. I'm mixing some demo tracks for my friend LeAnn. She's a really great musician. I'll a song in a day or two, so you can hear it!

Currently, Ryan is visiting Michael and I. He got here at about 11pm tonight. Hahaha! I love it when friends visit!
So, we're having a sleepover! It's good times!

Logan Christopher & the Sundance Kid- Day 2

The biggest celebrity I saw in Park City tonight was me. I'm so nice and cute, in person.
The Sundance Film Festival was pretty fun tonight! We did have quite a bit of down time between rushing to the box office to pick up our tickets (at 6:30p) to the movie screening (at 10:00p), so we had plenty of time to celebrity hunt... Well actually, all we did was eat at a mediocre sports bar, (I) got some coffee, and walk up and down Main St a couple times. Main St was surprisingly fairly empty. Thursday must not be very popular.
Michael and I saw a film called On the Ice, which was a good independent film. I enjoyed it for the most part, and we sat directly in front some of the cast and crew (including the stars of the film). So that was pretty cool.

I think I'll go to Sundance again next year, but I'll buy tickets more than three days in advance so that I have more films to choose from. All in all, I had a good time.

Return of the Photoblog- Day 1

I really admire people like Jenn Kerner (http://jennkerner.wordpress.com/) that can post a blog everyday... And a meaningful one at that. Reading Jenn's thoughts can be the highlight of my day more often than you'd think.

Anyway, this is why I'd like to begin posting regularly again. I won't post everyday because I really just don't have the motivation, and it's really hard for me to function on less than seven hours of sleep. But I am going to post regularly and I'm going to post a picture with my post. Post, post, post. Post.

So here we go! Day 1:

I bought a computer a couple weeks ago, and the biggest reason I chose the computer that I did was so I could record some music properly. In fact, I bought some professional recording software and a USB keyboard before I even bought the computer. I didn't have intensions of recording myself, but right now I don't have anyone else to record.

Unfortunately, I don't know my way around a piano very well. So today, I finally had the time to hop on YouTube and look up some decent piano lessons! In my first lesson I learned the C-scale, G-scale, and the D-scale. I also learned some triads and chords!

I'm on my way toward beging a post-modern musical genius. Wish me luck!
